Lilly and Grant’s eclectic wedding at Orchard River View was a celebration that focused on the beauty of the venue and having a party with all their loved ones. “We are looking forward to having all of our friends and family under one roof to celebrate and dance the night away!” Lilly said when I asked what their vision for the day was.
They had one of my favorite dress codes for the event that I’ve ever seen: Desert Formal. As they told their guests, “Desert formal is our way of saying things are a bit more casual, but still dressy and fun! Please keep in mind- it could potentially be in the 90’s by June in Grand Junction – We are more like the desert than the rest of Colorado- think red rock, cacti, etc. Be comfortable! Linen, flowy attire, sundresses, cowboy boots, sun hats, bolo ties, etc!”
That was truly the perfect summary for wedding attire vibes in the desert in summer. While it was hot, the parasols and light fabrics kept everyone cool and as the evening wore on the cool temperatures blowing in off the river made the lawn a beautiful spot for yard games!
Their pup, Roo, was their ring bearer and enthusiastically ran down the aisle to hand over the rings during the ceremony! She took her role seriously and looked cute doing it. Dinner for the evening was provided by Rolling Fork Food Truck and was DELICIOUS. I love how easy it is for food trucks to set up at ORV – it also gives you more room for guest tables when you don’t need room for buffet tables!
Just after their first dance, Lilly and Grant’s families joined together for a Simonds Family tradition: dancing to Ring of Fire in several big circles. This was the best way to get everyone on the dancefloor and many of them didn’t leave all night! The party was jumping alllll evening. The best part? When the ribbon wands came out after sunset photos. These are my new favorite accessory for wedding dancefloors!
