Jessica & John’s fall elopement in the San Juan Mountains was a delightful evening with dazzling autumn colors and the most majestic mountain views.
I started my day downtown Grand Junction, picking up a charcuterie board they ordered from Hog and the Hen – one of my many jobs as an elopement photographer AND planner! After hitting the road with all the gear we needed, I met up with the pair at their vacation rental in Montrose to load up what they brought and we headed into the mountains.
The two shared a first look in a grassy meadow with Mt. Sneffels and its neighboring peaks watching from above. Jessica had printed a photo of their daughter to surprise John with, so that she could be part of their day as well. It was the perfect way to include her when she couldn’t be physically present!
J&J exchanged vows as the wind blew through the golden aspen leaves and the sun dropped below the mountains’ peaks, draping the valley in shade but illuminating the mountains in a golden glow. We explored the area for photos, the two shared some cakes, and before we knew it (and as Jessica said “I don’t want to leave!”) it was the last light of the day. I took off for Crested Butte while the pair picked up some fallen leaves to create a memory box with when they get home – all of us buzzing with the beauty of the evening coming to a close.
