Kareeme and Meagan’s two day elopement adventure in Ouray and Grand Junction started with a beautiful morning on the Colorado National Monument for some photos exploring the red rock desert of the Grand Junction area. Storms later in the day prevented us from going out at sunset, but the morning light made the desert pop for their backdrop! That’s one of the beautiful things about a two-day elopement adventure – you can get the best of both worlds of all that makes Colorado’s western slope so beautiful and diverse. From the desert to the mountains, you can have it all!
The second day of their two day elopement adventure, I met up with the two again, this time in Montrose at Meagan’s parents’ house. They opted to include a few family members for their second day exploring the off-roads of Ouray. After getting ready, they shared a first look in the front yard and loaded into the Jeeps. Making our way to Ouray and out to this lush beautiful basin, everyone had a thrilling adventure off-roading in Jeeps for their first time! The waterfalls in the basin were just roaring with run-off thanks to the winter’s snowpack and recent rainfall.
They exchanged their vows in front of one of the waterfalls, with Kareeme’s brother overseeing the ceremony. Their mothers helped by carrying the rings and the ropes for their handfasting ceremony. After their first kiss they got out a special bottle of bourbon that they had distilled on vacation and saved for this occasion! The whole group took a shot to seal the union and marveled in the beauty of the area around them as Meagan and Kareeme shared their first dance as newlyweds, their song intertwined with the rush of the waterfalls.
We ended up exploring the wider basin for photos before we needed to head back into town for their dinner reservations, and I left them to enjoy their evening. Take a peek at their incredible two day elopement adventure in Ouray and Grand Junction:
