I am so stoked that you decided to break out of the mold and plan a wedding day that is totally unique to you, full of all of your favorite things.
My goal? I help couples just like you dream up the most "perfectly them" elopement, from intimate game nights in cozy cabins, to a coffee shop date before a privately catered dinner, to a hiking adventure in the wilderness. No expectations. No rules. Just an amazing day you'll love to look back on.
So... a traditional wedding isn't really your thing?
I've been there.
Here's a quick look at the four ways we can work together, because I value your time. Scroll down for full details on each, or tap on the collection to jump straight to the one that sounds right.

Every collection includes planning support, location guidance, a 124-page Elopement Guide, vendor recommendations, timeline creation, digital files, and online gallery access. Travel anywhere within Colorado is included — details below. (Note: I only work in Western CO unless you already have a location. Locals know the best spots!)
Since starting my business in 2012 and moving here in 2015, I've been helping couples navigate the beautiful chaos of planning and photographing elopements across Colorado's Western Slope, San Juan Mountains, and Moab, Utah.
I believe your wedding day should feel as beautiful as it looks—which means comfortable, stress-free, and entirely true to who you are.
Whether you need comprehensive planning support, photography that captures the story and scenery of your day, or both—I'm here to make sure the experience is exactly what you hoped for.
When I'm not helping couples, you can find me with a chai latte, binge-watching Gilmore Girls & Grey's Anatomy - again.

Amanda was the best decision we made for our wedding day! The photos are exceptional and perfectly capture the scenery and vibe we were going for, but that’s only a portion of what Amanda provided. She helped give us planning guidance, organization, and reassurance throughout, which alleviated all the worries we had about eloping in a place we’d never been before.
"the best decision we made"

Amanda is the perfect wedding photographer. The photos perfectly captured the whole day and I feel like I can easily relive it just by looking back at the photos. I highly recommend Amanda.

We used Amanda for our wedding and she is the BEST! Our photos turned out amazing and she captured the feel of our night perfectly. She’s also really fun to hang with. We didn’t want her to leave at the end of the night!
"She captured the feel of our night perfectly."

Amanda did an amazing job on our elopement photos! She was incredibly organized during all the planning and sent incredibly helpful tips and ideas in the months leading up.
"Incredibly organized & helpful"
Most photographers will show up, shoot your day, and send you a gallery. That's it. And for some couples, that's totally fine.
But eloping in Colorado's mountains is a different kind of undertaking. Permits. Altitude. Weather windows that change in an hour. Trailheads that require 4x4 access. Golden hour that hits differently at 12,000 feet. These aren't things you can Google your way through on the first try.
I've been photographing elopements in these mountains for over a decade. I know which spots need advance permits and which are first-come. I know when the wildflowers peak in Crested Butte and what the road to Yankee Boy Basin actually requires. I know the vendors in Ouray, Aspen, and Silverton who can make your vision happen.
That's the difference between hiring a photographer and hiring me. The photography is how you relive it. The planning is how you don't spend six months stressed about it.
"She helped give us planning guidance, organization, and reassurance throughout, which alleviated all the worries we had about eloping in a place we’d never been before."

I’ve been where you are—planning my own non-traditional wedding. That's why I’m passionate about helping couples like you create a day that feels like magic.
We planned a micro wedding on the Grand Mesa before anyone knew what a micro wedding even was... and it showed! From venues having no idea how to handle a small group, to trying to navigate explaining our plans to guests... it was TOUGH.
I remember wishing we could just do whatever we wanted - not knowing that was an option yet - and feeling pressured into decisions because "that's just how it's done."
Even with all that, it was a great day. People's judgements and opinions all faded away and we look back on our album with fondness. Those things I wished I knew when I was planning back then are the things I love passing on to couples like you, because I've been there.
Taking that experience and that of the 300+ couples I've helped elope since, I strive to help make your planning journey as smooth and stress-free as possible.
PICK A DATE AND GENERAL AREA
We'll talk about what sort of area you're interested in, and what our calendars look like to find a date and general location. Looking for wildflowers in Colorado? Want fall colors in the mountains? I'll share my expertise with these areas to help us narrow it down.
WE PLAN YOUR DAY TOGETHER
I'll be your right-hand person through the full planning process — location guidance, vendor recommendations, activity ideas, permit navigation, and access to my 124-page Elopement Guide. You'll never have to wonder if you're forgetting something.
WE BUILD YOUR PERFECT TIMELINE
Whether you're packing your day with activities or just want to time a perfect sunset ceremony, I'll create a timeline that keeps us on track so you can stay in the moment.
I CREATE YOUR GROUP PHOTO LIST
If you're bringing guests, I'll build a formals list so we capture every combination and keep that part of the day short and painless.
I'M YOUR BOOTS ON THE GROUND
Flying in? Don't have room in your car? I've got a cooler, camp chairs, a picnic blanket, a backpack — and I can pick up your charcuterie board in GJ. You focus on showing up. I'll handle the rest.
YOU DO THE THING!
The day arrives and I document all of it — the nerves, the buttons, the coffee at sunrise, the way the light hits the red rocks. Human hands on every image. Not AI. Not outsourced.
YOUR PHOTOS ARRIVE - FAST
Sneak peek in 24–48 hours so you can share the news. Full gallery in 4–6 weeks — while industry standard is 6–12 weeks (or more!)
PRINTS & KEEPSAKES
Your online gallery doubles as a print shop with access to professional labs. Order an heirloom album, a print box, or wall prints — and they'll arrive right at your door.
"Her offerings not only include photography but orchestrating the elopement as well, she helped us find a location, officiant, flowers, and more. She has a really nice online portal that houses the payments, documents, vendor recommendations, tips, emergency checklists, etc. which made everything run really smoothly."

Based on your vision and needs, I'll hand select the best options from my extensive Location Database for you to peruse. Get intel like elevation, distance & difficulty, trail videos, coordinates, things to do nearby, and photo examples from the space!
You've got me all wrong if you think I'm trying to stick a camera in your face and pose you for 8 hours a day. That sounds like torture.
What I'm here for is to authentically capture your day so you can relive those moments for a lifetime. Getting ready as the nerves start to hit (I'll help you with those buttons!) The Jeep Tour ride to your ceremony site. The coffee you make as the sun comes up (I'll lay out the pastries!) Shoving your face in your cake or your first dance by the lake. The way the sunset looks on your wedding day. The field of wildflowers you walk by as your dog signs your marriage license.
It's not a giant photoshoot. It's about helping you plan your dream day - and I'm just there to capture the joy you experience by living it.
2:30 - GETTING READY
Getting ready at your vacation rental or campsite. You help each other get ready, put on a pot of coffee, and take your time as you begin your elopement time. This is our ice breaker, so I'm not showing up at go-time.
3:30 - CEREMONY
You (and any guests you have) head out to your ceremony location where you'll exchange vows, rings, a unity ceremony and sign the papers to make things official. Share a toast or speeches to celebrate.
4:30 - GROUP PHOTOS
Spend some time taking photos with everyone in attendance in this beautiful place you've made this next step in your adventure together. Those images you'll look back at on their birthdays each year.
5:00 - DINNER
Whether you make dinner reservations at a nice restaurant in town, grab tacos from your favorite shop, hire a private chef to treat you to a fine meal in your vacation rental, or bring a picnic on our adventure in nature.
6:30 - ACTIVITIES
After dinner, you can spend the time until sunset exploring the area, hiking, fishing, taking photos with amazing views, seeing new sights, eating dessert, and spending time however you would like to most! We'll get those iconic photos and those stunning candids you love so much and will hang on the wall to relive these moments any time. Click here for activity ideas!
8:30 - SUNSET & STARS
Watch the sunset together. Eat a snack or some cake while the stars begin to come out. Stargaze and take some photos with the milky way as you end your new favorite day.
It's not really about "What do we do all day??" -- it's more like "What CAN we do all day?" You should plan a day that sounds like the most fun you can imagine: whatever that looks like to you. Star gazing? Coffee and brunch? A trip to a book store? ATVing? Overlooking a cool new park? Get excited about the possibilities!

Yep! I travel for a bunch of my celebrations each year. I keep local near Grand Junction and Moab in the winter, but frequently spend my season in Ouray, Crested Butte, Aspen and beyond!
I am lucky to live in Grand Junction, Colorado! We’re blessed with incredible locations to photograph right in our backyard, but also just a short trip into the Rocky Mountains or over to the desert of Moab!
Yes! I cull through all the images and retouch them to my style (I like to call it vibrant and timeless!) and deliver the final images in an online gallery.
Fill out my contact form below and I'll send over my specific pricing guide for the services you're interested in. From there we'll meet by phone/Zoom to make sure we're a good fit! Once you know I'm the one for you, I'll send over an invoice and agreement by email to save your date.
Friendly and AFFIRMING! I don't just document LGBTQIA2S couples - I celebrate your love with you. I've helped lovers document their love before it was even legal federally and will always be on your side.
I started Amanda Matilda Photography in 2012! Before that I second shot under some pros to get a better understanding of what went into documenting weddings.
Yep! Elopements are always planned by me (unless you've hired a planner as well) and I help you with tailored location guides, activity ideas to make your day special, crafting the perfect timeline so you can enjoy every moment, Area Guides so you can explore the area like a local, vendor recommendations for pros to help bring your dreams to life, and more.
You'll have an extensive sneak peek within 48 hours of your celebration so you can relive the moments and share with loved ones. Your full online gallery will be available within 4-6 weeks after your big day.
If you've made it to the end of this guide, first of all I feel like you deserve an award, and second of all, you're probably my new favorite person.
It's people like you who let me call this amazing life my job and trust me to help them take the reins on creating their favorite version of a wedding day.
I can't wait to meet you and would love the honor of documenting your celebration.
