Rachel & Jake’s Elopement on the Monument with Wine Tasting in Palisade was the perfect way to spend a spring day in the Grand Valley!

Our day started on this Colorado National Monument overlook that was near and dear to Rachel’s heart. She had spent many soul-searching days and sunsets staring at this view, her feet dangling off the edge of the cliffside, figuring out where life was taking her next. The Air Force training that followed led her to meet Jake, but it was a longer road than that for them to fall in love.

They reconnected after training in Hawaii, where they both happened to be brought back together by the Air Force once again. Rachel said, “Jake matches my unconventional, edgy, and adventurous side which made it easy to fall quickly and wholeheartedly in love with him. He brings a zest to life that is a joy to be around and inspiring to emulate.”

Jake agreed, saying: “I knew there was something special about Rachel from the very beginning. Her intelligence makes our conversations engaging, and her fun, adventurous side adds excitement to our time together.”

As their relationship grew and deepened, the pair knew they wanted something non-traditional as they took the next step into marriage. Rachel’s sister also had a non-traditional celebration, and having the freedom to spend their wedding day however they wanted was freeing to these two. Like almost every couple I work with, they’re not big on being the center of attention, so spending the day in a beautiful place with just a few loved ones, and winery hopping until dinner at a favorite restaurant was the best day they could imagine!

Take a peek at that celebration, from the Monument to their wine tasting and charcuterie afternoon:
