I met up with Shelbi and Jesse at their vacation rental in Ouray as the first light was creeping into the sky. Jesse headed up to the mountain backdrop we chose for their Ouray sunrise elopement with their pup, Garth, and the goodies for their picnic following the formalities. Shelbi and I followed shortly after and the two shared a first look, the mountains all around them aglow with that early morning light that is so so beautiful!

After some photos with the area and capturing their cherished details, Shelbi and Jesse recited their vows to one another and the mountains surrounding them, and exchanged rings. Garth helped to sign their marriage license, and we set up their picnic for the two of them to share some of the most amazing cake and a quick champagne toast. That’s the thing I love most about elopements: you can enjoy any of the “wedding traditions” that you want to, and leave all the rest behind. Shelbi was telling me how they came to the decision to elope, and like many of the couples I work with they simply had too many family that would feel left out if they had just a small wedding, and the thought of planning anything bigger than an elopement was also so overwhelming. I love to help couples like that who feel overwhelmed at the beginning of wedding planning, so they can breathe a sigh of relief and feel excited about their plans!
