When Sydney from Garvey’s Gardens first reached out for branding photos, I had a feeling this was going to be one of those sessions I’d think about for a long time. One of my goals had been to work with more local small businesses who aligned with my vibe — and she was exactly that. Organized, clear on what she needed, open to creative input, and running one of the most beautiful little floral businesses in Grand Junction.
What I didn’t anticipate? That first session would turn into something ongoing.
We’ve now worked together three times — and a fourth is already on the books.
We started at the farm, capturing the behind-the-scenes magic of where the flowers actually come from. Then we moved to the shop itself, documenting the space, the details, the everyday moments that make Garvey’s Gardens Garvey’s Gardens. Most recently, we did a special Valentine’s Day launch shoot — seasonal, intentional, built around a specific promotion.
Each session builds on the last. Sydney doesn’t have to start from scratch explaining her brand every time. I already know her aesthetic, her audience, her vibe. And she walks away from every session with a fresh library of images that are actually going to be used — on her website, her socials, her promos — not just pretty pictures collecting dust in a folder.
This is exactly the kind of working relationship I had in mind when I created The Summit Society — a branding photography membership for Western Slope small business owners who are tired of scrambling for content and ready to just show up consistently. Four quarterly sessions a year, a running catalog of on-brand imagery, and a photographer who actually knows your business. Garvey’s Gardens is proof of what that looks like in practice.
Take a peek at some of my favorites from our sessions below, and go give Sydney a follow — her work is stunning.
