I'm based in Grand Junction, CO and capture the story & scenery of your favorite day. Serving Crested Butte, Ouray, Moab, Aspen and beyond!

Are you planning on getting married at Hotel Colorado? Congratulations! You’ve chosen probably my favorite wedding venue in Glenwood Springs. The Hotel Colorado has such amazing history and their wedding coordinator and team that help you along the planning journey are phenomenal! You’re in good hands, friend. I want to touch on why the Hotel Colorado is one of my top faves for your Glenwood Springs wedding from a photographer’s standpoint.

Getting Ready

Joseph & Morgan | Fall Wedding at Hotel ColoradoBeing a hotel, there is no shortage of getting ready rooms for your wedding day! One of the things I love most about these spaces as a photographer is the LIGHT. These rooms are well-lit and often have balcony access for fun photos with your wedding party. While you’re getting your hair and makeup done, you’ll have dreamy light pouring in the windows and that’s so great for photographs. The rooms are pretty big, and sometimes come as a full suite with two rooms, fitting more of your wedding party too! Plus with a space like Hotel Colorado, you’re already on-site for the ceremony if things run behind. There’s just so much to love!

Portraits

Joseph & Morgan | Fall Wedding at Hotel Colorado Joseph & Morgan | Fall Wedding at Hotel ColoradoThe Hotel Colorado has a plethora of locations for your wedding day portraits. From the lobby spaces with unique seating arrangements and grand fireplaces, to the courtyard with the ornate windows and beautiful trees for a backdrop, there’s just SO MUCH to work with! Sometimes we can even get access to one of the balconies for wedding party or couple’s portraits overlooking the courtyard and the mountains on the horizon!

Wedding Ceremony Location – The Courtyard

Joseph & Morgan | Fall Wedding at Hotel ColoradoThe most common ceremony location I’ve seen at the Hotel Colorado is the Courtyard. With trees overhead it’s kept cooler in the summer and turns magnificent colors in the fall! The fountain makes for a beautiful backdrop as you exchange your vows.

Wedding Reception – The Devereux Ballroom

Hotel Colorado Ballroom - Wedding Reception | Amanda Matilda PhotographyThe Hotel Colorado has a number of newly renovated rooms for your wedding reception, but my favorite by far is the Devereux Ballroom! With a cozy fireplace along one wall and the most incredible chandeliers adorning the ceiling, this room is just STUNNING. You can customize the feel of the space with uplighting, and the rounded white ceiling is perfect for my lighting to photograph the night’s activities beautifully. The Hotel Colorado offers catering and bar services so everything is taken care of, and you can serve appetizers along with cocktail hour while we’re finishing up family formals outside! The ballroom fits lots of people, too, making this a great option for larger celebrations.

Ending the Night

Joseph & Morgan | Fall Wedding at Hotel ColoradoRight down the hall from the ballroom in either direction are main entrances that make for the perfect spot to do a grand exit at the end of the night! Plus since you’re celebrating at a hotel, your guests have accommodations right on site. If you’re not quite done for the night, or want lunch the next day, the main drag of Glenwood Springs is just a pedestrian bridge away, and one of the Hot Springs pools is literally across the street. Can you see why I’m obsessed?! The Hotel Colorado offers SO MUCH for your Glenwood Springs wedding. I highly recommend checking them out!
