Holly and Derek were looking for the perfect setting for their engagement photos, and they found it in the stunning red rocks of Colorado National Monument. We decided to have their photo shoot at sunset, hoping to capture the warm colors of the setting sun against the rugged landscape.
As they arrived at the park, Holly was admittedly feeling nervous. They had never had professional photos taken before and they weren’t sure what to expect — something most people who come to me feel! But as soon as we started the photo shoot, exploring the different areas of the location, they both quickly relaxed and began to have a blast. We were soon laughing and having fun, remarking how cool the snow looked on the red rocks and bushes.
As the sun started to dip below the horizon, the colors of the sky and the rocks began to change. The sky and bookcliffs turned brilliant shades of orange, pink, and purple, while the red rocks of the monument took on a deeper, richer hue. It was a truly breathtaking sight, and Holly and Derek couldn’t believe their luck to be experiencing it together.
The sunset colors were magical and made the photo shoot even more special. I just love the way the surroundings change colors every few minutes at sunset. The warm tones created a romantic and intimate atmosphere, as the moon rose in the distance.
As the sun disappeared and the sky turned to dusk, Holly and Derek’s photo shoot came to an end. Holly and Derek’s engagement photo shoot at Colorado National Monument was a memorable and romantic adventure. Despite their initial nerves, the two of them had a blast, and the sunset colors added an extra touch of magic to the already stunning landscape. Take a peek at some of my favorites from the evening:
