I first met Laura and Steffen for the engagement session this spring, at a trailhead near her family’s ranch. Later in the session we headed back to that ranch to finish their photos around the property that would hold their backyard wedding in New Castle this fall. It was so fun to explore the giant wood piles, rustic bridges, and beautiful green spaces for both those engagement photos and now their wedding day! Things on the property had changed a bit from spring to fall, with the addition of the barn the reception was held in, to quite a few more leaves on the trees.
We started their day at the salon where the ladies were getting ready before we hopped on the party bus to take us up to Carbondale to the church for their ceremony. This church had the most incredible view of Mt. Sopris! After the service we loaded back onto the bus to head back to the ranch for the rest of the night’s festivities. The evening began with hors d’oeuvres and yard games, while most of the guests explored the property, taking in the glowing cliffs and bubbling creek. Many guests also marveled at Laura’s dad’s gourds – so impressive in size that we had to get some portraits with them too! One was, I swear, half my height.
Finally a delicious barbecue dinner began and toasts were shared as everyone finished eating. Steffen and Laura cut a beautiful cake adorned with edible flowers and the coordinators began passing around sparklers to all the guests. They had the coolest first dance, surrounded by all their guests lighting up the area with their sparklers in the background! Enough talk, though, take a peek at some of my favorite moments from the day:
