When Molly and Laurena first approached me about their wedding at Cascade Village in Durango, I was stoked. Since we usually take red mountain pass down to Durango, we’ve been driving past Cascade Village for years and I always thought it would be amazing to photograph a wedding there some day. Having grown up in Durango, Molly and Laurena both grew up loving the mountain summers and the wildflowers that would decorate the hills near their hometown. “We really wanted to incorporate the natural landscape as much as we could to really showcase the beauty around us.” Cascade Village offered the perfect backdrop to do just that.

While they met in high school and were both theatre kids, it wasn’t until they reconnected as adults, having gone off to colleges and different careers, when they met again as adults working with kids and instantly connected and became best friends. That friendship grew into something more, and after awhile of dating they knew they were in it forever. “Our proposal was non traditional in the way that there was not an “on one knee” moment, but for us, the best part about it is that we made the decision as a partnership and decided to be together forever.”

They planned a wedding day in the mountains, surrounded by wildflowers and the family they’ve created for an amazing day full of love and laughter. I only cried twice at the beautiful, deep relationships that these two have in their lives. They were the most badass brides and had the most loyal friends around all day! They promised to forever, sealed with a pinky promise and a kiss.
