Sarah and Tom have had many adventures over their six years together, most of which involved camping. As they told me in one meeting, their ideal way to spend their time is doing almost anything outdoors. They also have ties to the Ridgway area and even climbed Mt. Sneffels on the 4th of July weekend of their first year dating, so a camping wedding at Top of the Pines in Ridgway only made sense!
The forecast called for rain the week leading up to the big day, and even the morning-of the radar looked very typical for a summer’s day in Colorado: afternoon rain showers predicted. Nothing could get anyone down, though, least of all rain, and the day ultimately went off without a hitch! They planned a first look that, as always, gave us the flexibility we needed to hunker down under the tents and wait as the rain moved on. We were all treated to many phases of beauty of the mountains along the horizon, from the menacing look as it rained, to the almost 4D appearance at dinnertime, to the golden hour glow at sunset.
Their pup Molly was their ring bearer and just the cutest thing! To add to the camp theme, they set up yard games outside the large reception tent as well, which was a fun alternative for guests who didn’t want to dance. They adorned the ceremony with camping plates, picnic blanket patterns, tables named after the mountain peaks on the horizon, and a customized wedding logo from one of their friends that welcomed the guests to the celebration and were also on the koozies they’d take home that night.
There’s honestly too much to say about this wonderfully beautiful, incredibly fun and relaxed wedding day. I’ll let the photos take it from here. Take a peek at their camping wedding at Top of the Pines:
