Julia & Garrett’s Ashcroft Ghost Town Aspen Elopement was full of all that makes Colorado summers so iconic. Beautiful bluebird skies, a quick rain shower, wildflowers galore, and 360 degree mountain views were just a few of the things that made this day great.
We met up at Pine Creek Cookhouse in the morning for their meadow ceremony surrounded by wildflowers of all colors (be sure to find a meadow specifically used for ceremonies, or one with a clearing to avoid trampling them to Leave No Trace!) The small group that accompanied them wore attire to match the wildflower colors, shades of pink, red, green, blue and purple that perfectly suited the vibe. After exchanging vows and rings, the two sealed it with a kiss. We took some photos with Julia’s veil: a family heirloom from her grandmother’s wedding that every woman in the family has worn on her wedding day. Such a beautiful “something borrowed” for the morning!
After that we gathered as a group along the river for a brunch and mimosas as a couple important people gave toasts in front of the group. The couple had planned a choreographed first dance that was very impressive, as clouds gathered above us. As we started taking group photos, the skies opened up. In true Colorado fashion, we only had to hide in the car for a few minutes before the sun came back out and dried everyone off — but not before we got a few photos of Garrett and Julia in the rain!
The sun drying things off allowed us to finish group photos with the mountains before we made our way down the Ashcroft Ghost Town itself for some more food and drinks along the river and photos with the ghost town. There were some really incredible wildflower fields blanketed in purple that this path perfectly meandered through to allow us to easily get some amazing photos with.
After photos, the group headed to their lunch reservations at Pine Creek Cookhouse and I headed home, buzzing from the best way to start a day! Take a peek at some of my favorite moments from their Ashcroft Ghost Town Aspen Elopement:
