Ben approached me about his proposal on the Colorado National Monument plans about a week before the plan would unfold. He had an idea for the surprise already, which was awesome! He and Renaya had been models for a portfolio shoot with another photographer in the past, and he had me approach her with a similar offer. They would model for me and get free photos in exchange – the perfect setup! Ben and I planned a prompt that would signal him that it was the moment to propose, and when she turned around she was shocked to see him down on one knee!
It was easy to understand how surprised she was – the ruse of the pretend photoshoot was a great cover story – and it was so fun to explore this area with them before and after the big question (which she said yes to!) for portraits to commemorate the evening and new ring on her finger.
