Brian and Michaela’s wedding plans had many drafts before they landed on the plan that came together: a backyard wedding in Fruita. As many weddings this year have discovered, it is a busy time for weddings and as such available venues and vendors are hard to come by. Michaela’s sister offered up their large, shaded backyard to hold the wedding and the plan stuck!
The biggest focus of their day was starting the next big adventure together: marriage. They’ve been on so many travel adventures together (and with their dog Trooper, another huge part of the day!) so they were excited about this new kind of adventure. “We decided to travel for our careers and I think every new adventure we add into our lives together shows us more and more that we are truly meant for each other.”
When they described their plans to me, Michaela put it like this: “We are looking forward to just having a big party with our closest friends and family and Trooper! We were on a work assignment in Hawaii – my closest friends, parents and uncle came out for a visit and we went to a luau. That luau had good food, great music a ton of laughs and games. And we are hoping our backyard reception is going to be so much like that!”
They hired Griz Entertainment’s Gig Rig which pulled into the backyard to bring the party, set up a bunch of yard games throughout the yard, and Colorado Q’s food truck pulled up for dinner. It was the ultimate celebration and chill hangout — exactly what they were going for. We went up to the Colorado National Monument for a few photos (dogs aren’t allowed on trails in the park, so we had to make due with this parking lot’s incredible view!) and went into Fruita itself for some iconic backdrops, before ending the night with desserts, games, and dancing.
