Avery and Maira’s fall Ouray elopement story begins last year, May 2022, when Avery approached me about proposing to Maira on a hike around the town. I met them in the morning, watching them along the trail pretending to take landscape photos of the mountains. Fast forward a year and a half later and I met up with the pair in Ouray once again, this time to get them married! They gathered with some close family members and a friend of theirs to officiate in one of their favorite towns, and the same place they got engaged. They talked about how fun it was to show Ouray to their loved ones to celebrate this special occasion!
We lucked out with perfect weather and trees that were starting to turn golden for fall. Each of them wore matching sneakers with their outfits; Maira’s rainbow bouquet and Avery’s hot pink suit both stood out beautiful against the mountain backdrops! We began photos at their rental house (the cutest home ever) for a first look. From there we returned to the exact spot Avery proposed and explored the mountains and aspen groves. Avery is a firefighter back home as well, and arranged to get portraits done with the Ouray fire department and their trucks. Following their couples photos and a quick stop on the Imogene rooftop bar, we made our way to the Fellin Park gazebo for their ceremony with loved ones. They exchanged their vows and rings and a few tears, and it was official! We got group photos with everyone in attendance, and went to a nearby overlook for more family photos. My share of the day ended with their cake back at the vacation rental before the group headed off to their dinner reservations. Truly the perfect day for a simple, intimate celebration!
