When Deanne first approached me with her vision of a portrait session in their wedding outfits outside of the wedding day, I was so stoked. I’ve been dying to do more sessions just like this one for years! An “adventure session” is sometimes called a day-after session, where you get dressed back up in your wedding clothes and get some epic portraits that the timeline of a busy wedding day might just not allow for. These sessions, like Pete and Deanne did, can also be done in advance to relieve stress on the day of your wedding, because you know you got all those portraits you wanted done and out of the way already! The only downside is you might get the dress a little dusty, but in their case they didn’t have much dust at all and it was totally worth it for those views! If that’s a stress for you, though, you can always do this session after the wedding instead.
Their adventure session in Crested Butte was centered around three main ideas we wanted to capture: alpine lakes, autumnal colorful aspens, and epic mountain views! They brought some fun props, and details from the upcoming wedding, which was fun to capture in the wild like that. We really managed to capture some spots of aspens at their best peak colors too. That golden glow is amazing! Take a peek at some of my favorites from their adventure session in Crested Butte:
