Megan & Jordan made their trek from Canada to the States for their sunset elopement at Dead Horse Point. This was actually our Plan B, due to the rain storms that the area got the days before, but it turned out to be the very best plan we could have had! Not only was the weather a perfect 65 degree high, there was also not a rain cloud in sight (something the forecast made us weary of!)
We met up at the state park a couple hours before the sun went down with their officiant Ruth (a staple of Moab elopements and weddings, in my opinion!) and we wandered the rim’s edge to find our ceremony site. The pair marveled at the amazing canyons below – something I still do to this day. They initially thought of eloping in Vegas, because how iconic right? Then their minds wandered to the Grand Canyon, and in searching more information on that they came upon Moab and all the beauty to behold in Utah. They then found me and we collaborated on finding the most Grand Canyon-esque views for their day.
We kept things pretty simple, with the sweetest ceremony led by Ruth, where I think we all shed at least one tear and had plenty of laughs at the wind taking over the veil. The best part of eloping is being able to laugh off the “oops” moments and having the freedom and flexibility to just completely go with the flow and have no stress. I feel like that was extra evident in Megan and Jordan’s day, from the laid back nature of the celebration to the easy switch to our rain plan.
After our exploration of the park for photos, we watched the sunset and how the colors change the red rocks through the evening, ending with a celebratory bubbly cheers. The pair continued their tour of great Utah sites on their way to Vegas for a little honeymoon before heading home. I adore when couples can make a honeymoon trip out of their elopement! Anyway enough from me – take a peek at some of my favorite moments from their sunset elopement at Dead Horse Point:
