I'm based in Grand Junction, CO and capture the story & scenery of your favorite day. Serving Crested Butte, Ouray, Moab, Aspen and beyond!

Matt & Theresa’s sunset elopement in Grand Junction paired everything that makes the Grand Valley so wonderful. They got ready in Palisade at a cute little vacation rental that had an orchard on site and a fairytale cherry tree out back.

The two met and immediately found connection in both owning ragdoll cats, so we needed to of course include their current kitties in their day somehow, so we brought up images of the pair on their phones to feel their presence on such a big day.

After getting ready together and some portraits with the peach orchards, we headed to downtown Palisade for some photos with the small town vibes of the main streets. Altogether we captured a lot of what there is to love about this little town, which is what drew them to elope here after all, before we headed to the Colorado National Monument for their celebrations.

One of the ways I love to serve my couples is to be their “boots on the ground” as they travel in from out-of-town. For Matt and Theresa, who booked an all-inclusive package with me, I spent some time downtown Grand Junction before we met up, picking up their flowers, charcuterie tray, and their elopement cake. Taking the stress out of weddings and elopements is so huge for me, and is especially useful when couples are traveling in for their big day.

Up on the Monument we met up with their officiant and gathered everything we’d need for the ceremony and sunset picnic afterward, and made our way down to the cliffs’ edge for the evening. As the sun set, Carey guided them through the most sentimental and sweet ceremony, they exchanged personal vows, and sealed the deal with a kiss before making it paperwork-official. As Carey headed out for the day, we set up their picnic blanket (making sure to stay on durable slick rock to not disturb any sensitive crypto soil in the desert!) for some goodies to enjoy the evening. In between cutting the cake and nibbling the meats and cheeses, we took photos with the ever-changing and awe-inspiring sunset skies around us.

The night came to a close and the blue hour crept in around us as we gathered things back up so the pair could head back to Palisade in time to pick up their elopement pizza to enjoy and end the day. It was such a treat to help these two with their sunset elopement in Grand Junction and to incorporate Palisade and the Colorado National Monument in this beautiful day.
