When you begin to look for wedding venues of Grand Junction, it’s important to start with familiarizing yourself with the Grand Junction area. If you’re not from the area, here’s a brief overview of what you’ll need to know before hunting for where to get married in Grand Junction! The whole area altogether is known as the Grand Valley, and it features a few rather different settings. Palisade is Colorado’s wine country, known for its lush agriculture from orchards and vineyards and lavender fields, to Mt. Garfield and the Colorado River running through town.
Grand Junction itself is the more urban setting, from the University and historic downtown district, to the Redlands at the base of the Colorado National Monument. Fruita and the small towns nearby are the mountain biking capital of Colorado, and the area is home to the Colorado National Monument and many acres of desert and ranch land. Standing over the Grand Valley is the Grand Mesa, known locally as the world’s largest flat top mountain, which offers a high elevation (10,000′!) escape for the valley – with quivering aspens, over 300 lakes, and the area’s ski resort.
The wedding venues of Grand Junction offer backdrops like wineries, wedding barns, ballrooms, meadows and more. Two Rivers Winery is a beautiful winery estate located at the base of the Colorado National Monument. The rows of vineyards and the red rock cliffs in the distance offer a natural beauty to an elegant venue. The backyard provides an outdoor setting that most couples take advantage of for their ceremony and sometimes cocktail hour. You can even set up tents to create a reception space outdoors if you prefer that to the indoor chateau room. The indoor room offers a grand staircase and chandelier, with a warm and cozy atmosphere that many couples use for their reception space. The chateau lodging on the upper floor offers getting ready spaces and a home-away-from-home for the weekend.

The Colorado Mesa University campus offers a number of unique venues for your wedding day, from their grand ballroom that holds hundreds of people, to more intimate overlooks and the Hotel Maverick on campus. Get ready in their getting ready suite or in a hotel room at the Hotel Maverick for a modern and cool vibe. You can take photos around the campus, or get married out in nature and return here for a reception space that is centrally located in town and has accommodations on campus. This space is a top option for couples looking to host a really large wedding.

About the Venue:
This historic ballroom in downtown Grand Junction offers an intimate setting for your wedding reception. You could hold your ceremony here as well, but more couples opt for a ceremony at the Colorado National Monument or out in nature, and use this space for a reception gathering. The historic architecture are a really unique find in the area, and the tall windows and ceiling offer a beautiful and timeless look to the space. One downside is that there is a tall set of stairs to reach this venue, and no elevator in the historic building, so be sure you and your guests are able to access the space before booking.

About the Venue:
Redlands Community Center offers a quaint historic venue sitting on an expansive grassy and shaded yard that many couples take advantage of for their outdoor ceremony space. This wedding venue is located just over the river from downtown Grand Junction into the Redlands, and its old trees offer much appreciated shade in this desert town. They’re extra pretty in the fall too! Inside the venue you’ll find arched windows and a cute hall for smaller wedding groups. There is a downstairs space for getting ready (though as a photographer, I recommend considering an off-site space for less basement-like photos.) Being in such close proximity to downtown, many couples utilize those hotels for getting ready and lodging for guests.

About the Venue:
This lakeside wedding venue is one of the newer wedding venues of Grand Junction. It has beautiful views of the Grand Mesa and a lovely lakeside ceremony space! The building on site has a cool spiral staircase that is fun for photos. The capacity is pretty average for the area and can fit a traditional size wedding. The property also offers hourly rentals for reception-only or micro wedding type of events! You can get married out in nature and then host your party here for equally beautiful views in a structured environment.

About the Venue:
If you’re looking at where to get married in Grand Junction and you’re looking for a higher elevation wedding venue with a mountain vibe not far from town, Powderhorn Ski Resort is the venue for you! This ski resort sits on the side of the Grand Mesa, with ski lifts that take you up to over $8,000 feet above sea level. The venue offers getting ready suites at the resort, from townhomes and tiny homes to a suite right in the lodge. Most couples host their ceremony on the large deck outside the restaurant space in the upper floor of the lodge, which they often use as their reception room. The fall colors at Powderhorn are typically best in mid- to late-September and can last until early October. Snow is not uncommon as late as April or May and as early as October. The busiest months for weddings here are July and September.

Kiser Creek Cabins is located on the far side of the Grand Mesa from Grand Junction, a bit over an hour’s drive from town. This set of cabins offers a rustic and intimate setting for your wedding, with an outdoor fireplace, log cabins, and aspen trees providing a cozy atmosphere and the higher elevation offering a bit of a reprieve from the summer heat of the Grand Valley. A short drive up the Mesa offers dozens of lakes and pine trees as backdrop for portraits too, if you like exploring!

This is a more unique backdrop and almost feels more like an elopement-style wedding in the mountains!

Varaison Vineyards offers a couple of venues for your wedding in Palisade. The popular space for wedding ceremonies is the miniaturized version of a rose garden in Surrey, England. They also offer a wedding pavilion, which gives cover to your wedding reception in case of summer storms or that autumn chill that creeps up as the sun goes down. Cozy up around the firepits and enjoy the light show on the surrounding cliffs as the sun sets them ablaze with light.

The AP Ranch wedding venue in Loma – near Fruita – is a sprawling space with beautiful views of the bookcliffs and the Colorado National Monument on the horizon. The barn offers and indoor space for your reception, as well as two getting ready suites. If you’re having more than a few people in your wedding party, you may consider booking a nearby vacation rental for getting ready at instead, though, as the rooms are pretty small. The yard for the ceremony site is huge and also offers a covered shelter for a shaded place to say your vows. With plenty of parking and rustic country vibe, this is a popular spot for large celebrations.
