Welcome to 2018, blog readers! There seems to be a whole lot more of you over the last few weeks, even during our holiday hiatus. Thanks so much for your support! Whether you got engaged over the holidays or are just getting around to planning more of your wedding, welcome. This is going to be an amazing year, I can just feel it!
Those holiday engagements have been on my mind a lot recently (one of my hubby’s best friends got engaged, among others in my newsfeed!) and it has inspired me to talk a little bit about ring shots today. You may be planning your engagement session now that you’ve said “yes!” and one of the things I love to do during these sessions is show of your new bling.
While you can tell from my past work that I love a good detail shot, focusing on the ring in all its glory alone, there are some fun ways to show off the ring in your photos of the two of you as well! Playing with focus and interaction are some of my favorite ways to incorporate those more candid ring shots. If you’re looking for this type of work, talk with your photographer (or hit me up here!) about this vision for your session to see if they’re willing to include some candid ring shots versus the traditional close-ups, or maybe they can do both if that’s your jam!
I’ll be ending this post with a few of my favorite rings (heh. heh. get it?) from the past years so you can learn more about what styles and ideas you love most! The engagement period shouldn’t be rushed through as you begin planning your wedding. It’s easy to get engaged and move directly to the wedding, but I highly recommend taking some time to relish in your new fiance status. Looking at engagement photos and planning your session is a great way to start! Take a peek at some ring inspiration:
If my style fits everything you’re looking for in a photographer, let’s chat! I’d love to capture the story & scenery of your best day ever.
xo,
