With the crazy rain through last weekend it remained to be seen if we would get to shoot Brandon & Jennifer’s fall engagement in downtown Grand Junction or not. The rain poured down that morning, but seemed to let up around noon – great! But then of course one hour before the session, the sky let loose once more.
Ultimately we decided to give it a go anyway. The forecast seemed to promise a few clear hours and most of the time rain doesn’t stick around here. It was definitely the right decision as we had a beautiful time downtown followed by a little adventure on the Colorado National Monument!
Brandon moved here to Grand Junction and was hired at Jennifer’s family’s business. That’s where they first met. He started hanging out with her twin brother and she would tag along! Funnily enough Jennifer’s mom and his aunt have also been best friends since high school, so they sort of knew of each other but had never actually met before then.
Fast forward about five years, several hangouts downtown, and numerous dinner dates, and the two were inseparable. They knew they never wanted to be without the other. Jennifer told me about the proposal:
“We go to Glenwood Springs all the time- it’s kind of our go to weekend trip. In April, I mentioned going towards the end of the month and he said it sounded great! It was crazy weather, but we managed our walk to dinner. We had a nice dinner at Juicy Lucy and on our walk to the piano bar around the corner he turned me around and dropped down on his knee. I had no idea he was going to do it on this trip, so I was very shocked and excited! Afterward, I realized that he had been acting weird all day trying to make everything perfect. We got to celebrate the rest of the weekend with yummy food and the hot springs!”
We planned their engagement session around the fall colors, ultimately landing on downtown Grand Junction and the Colorado National Monument. A fall engagement in downtown Grand Junction was the perfect spot, as many of their first times together were spent exploring downtown! With how much they love to get out into the monument and explore, it seemed like the perfect additional location. Take a peek at some of my favorites from their engagement session:
