Living in Grand Junction, I love how close we are to Eastern Utah! I've recently discovered my adoration for Green River and the surrounding wilderness areas that make this part of Utah so unique. Elopements in Green River have a wide diversity in backdrops, from the local State Parks like Goblin Valley, to the San Rafael Swell and tons of BLM land, there are so many exciting "venues" for a Green River Utah elopement photographer.
Green River Utah elopements are wonderful because of our longer season here west of the Rockies. You can elope here in winter and see no other souls during the day, with highs still in the 40's or 50's depending on when you go. Spring and fall are amazing for privacy with a bit more warmth as well. Summer is usually avoided as the highs will be triple digits, but if you're looking for a simple sunrise or sunset session you can beat the heat of the day!

Location Scouting
So you can stop googling, posting to forums, and wasting your time trying to find the perfect spot. I've spent countless hours driving the back roads or with my nose in a map (you should see how many spots I've flagged) to help you narrow down and find the best spot for you to spend your day.
Timeline Planning
So we're in the best places at the best times - cuz this is probably your first elopement, right? Whether you’re planning activities for your elopement or just need help with timing the perfect sunset ceremony, I love to help my couples with creating the perfect timeline for the day. I’ll create an agenda, with as much specific or general timing as we want, and what spots and activities we’ll be doing there.
Permit Guidance
Eloping in the West means navigating permits and other legal requirements. OOF right? You can rest easy, though. I know alllll the requirements and what we need to do. Plus I always carry the necessary photography permits for our areas!

Vendor Recommendations
Small mountain and desert towns can be hard to find vendors at all, let alone ones who show up in an online search. Having helped couples elope in these areas for over ten years now, I’ve gotten to know all the pros to recommend to help bring your visions to life.

Where to Elope in Green River Utah
Goblin Valley State Park - This state park is about 45 minutes from Green River, but if you want some great privacy, insane other-worldly views, and a truly unique destination, Goblin Valley is for you.
BLM Land – So much of the area around Green River is BLM Land and home to some amazing vistas and secret spots. Your vendors need to hold permits from the BLM Office to work there, though, but lucky for you I hold one of those permits! These spaces are more remote and often less crowded than the parks. (And so much more private than nearby Moab!)
San Rafael Swell - Sure, a lot of the San Rafael Swell is in BLM land, but it is worth noting on its own. This iconic and unique geographical area makes for some insane backdrops and adventures for your big day. Slot canyons, pillars, mountains and more. So cool!
The Green River – The town is, of course, named for this winding river that cuts through the area, making for some great backdrops for your elopement. Say your vows on a sandy beach, with red rock towers in the background, or on a cliffside overlooking a horseshoe bend in the river.
Capitol Reef National Park – Capitol Reef is a little over an hour's drive from Green River, but if you're looking to check off a new National Park from your list, this one is worth checking out!
Elope on Mars – Want to elope and feel like you're on Mars? These clay hills come alive in purple and red and feel like you're walking on Mars for your big day. These are another BLM land spot that needs its own highlight!

Elopement Timeline Example
2:30 - GETTING READY
You rented a yurt at Goblin Valley so we meet there and take your time as you begin to prep for your elopement day, surrounded by red rocks and hoodoos.
3:30 - CEREMONY
You (and any guests you have) head out to your ceremony location surrounded by the little hoodoos as witness, where you'll exchange vows, rings, a unity ceremony and sign the papers to make things official. Share a toast or speeches to celebrate.
4:30 - GROUP PHOTOS
Spend some time taking photos with everyone in attendance in this beautiful place you've made this next step in your adventure together. Those images you'll look back at on their birthdays each year.
5:00 - DINNER
Whether you make dinner reservations at a restaurant in Green River, grab tacos from the local truck, head back to your yurt for a campfire dinner, or bring a picnic on our adventure in nature - it's important to take time to refuel.
6:30 - ACTIVITIES
After dinner, you can spend the time until sunset exploring the area, hiking, exploring a slot canyon, taking photos with amazing views, seeing new sights, eating dessert, and spending time however you would like to most! 8:30 - SUNSET & STARS
Watch the sunset together. Eat a snack or some cake while the stars begin to come out. Stargaze and take some photos with the milky way as you end your new favorite day.

From there I'll send you my 124 page Elopement Guide and help with location ideas, scouting, emergency kit info, permits, activity suggestions, vendor recommendations, timeline creation, group photo lists, and so so much more.
