As the clock struck midnight on New Years Eve, Joey and Morgan shared their first kiss – having met only that night. It was Morgan who asked Joey out first after that night, in fact her friends helped find him on Facebook and insisted she send him a friend request. Almost three years later we were celebrating at their fall wedding at Hotel Colorado in Glenwood Springs!
Joey grew up going to the Hotel Colorado and took Morgan there the first year they were dating, and they’ve been going annually ever since! Hosting their wedding there just made sense, and it’s such a beautiful and charming historic hotel. Their ballroom was recently renovated and having seen it at the hotel’s reveal party I was so excited to get to capture a wedding there! The new chandeliers and incredible fireplace add so much to the space.
Joey proposed with a morganite ring (Morgan… get it? ha!) with rose gold, and Morgan took that color palette with her into the wedding planning process. I loved how sophisticated it felt and went so well with the venue! Subtle and elegant – just like the Hotel. We captured their first look on the balcony of the Roosevelt Room – the same balcony president Theodore Roosevelt stood on greeting people in the courtyard below. The history of the place was incredible.
That courtyard is where Morgan and Joey exchanged their vows, and where Joey got a little bit choked up seeing his bride come up the aisle, even after insisting he would not cry! Morgan and Joey build each other up and understand one another so deeply. They really are each other’s support and cheerleaders. Joey recalled, “I knew Morgan was the one when Morgan yelled at me to do better in school. I knew she cared about me and pushes me to be my best self.”
During the reception Nathan with Firefly Entertainment played “September” by Earth, Wind, and Fire, and it was probably the most perfect moment. Paired with a cake cutting of the cutest bundt cake, the shoelywed game, and the usual bouquet/garter tosses, it was a fun-filled evening. We ended the night with a beautiful sparkler exit and my heart felt full. Thank you, Morgan and Joey for inviting me into your friends and families for the day. It was truly an amazing celebration! For now, take a peek at my favorite moments from their fall wedding at Hotel Colorado:
