This fall wedding at Powderhorn Ski Resort was graced with perfect weather. The colors up on the Mesa were amazing, even this time of the season when they normally are more faded out. We even lucked out with no snow! We started the day with getting ready, where I had my first wedding where the bride was doing the hair for the group. Everyone made jokes about how she was working on her own wedding day. The bride had a vision for her day, though, and wanted everything just right! She even handmade the sashes for her and her daughters’ dresses.
The day was decorated in soft blush tones and gold accents, which went beautifully with the gold aspens around Powderhorn. Their children were a huge part of their day as well. The girls scattered fall leaves down and the boys stood to watch their mom walk down the aisle. After exchanging their own vows, the couple offered vows to the others’ children promising to be a strong role model and constant presence in their lives. The two eldest even signed as witnesses on their marriage license! A seat was also saved at the ceremony and a special table at the reception for the bride’s mother, who was there through the whole day in spirit. The handmade bouquet with beautiful brooches and detailing even held an image of her mom so she could carry her with her all day.
The reception was tons of fun as a few guests had special surprise toasts for the couple. From the song from the Wedding Singer, to a rap about how the two had met, there were lots of laughs and plenty of tears. The kids tore up the dance floor all night long! We also played the shoe game at one point, which brought lots of laughs. Alongside the cake for cutting were cupcakes and goodies, including Italian cookies her family told me she loved growing up.
