It is officially desert season again, and I am loving it! After Nancy & Dereck’s elopement at Gateway Canyons, I’ve decided this might be my favorite time of year there (though I’ve not seen the fall in Gateway yet and I suspect that’s pretty incredible!) The two got ready at their casita on the resort campus, where Dereck surprised Nancy with a “something blue” from Tiffany’s. It was stunning! They have been coming to Gateway Canyons for years now, after a wanderlust road trip brought the area to their attention. It made sense to tie the knot in this beautiful place they visit together all the time!
After getting ready, we made our way out to the reflection ponds to share a private ceremony and handfasting. They recorded the event for family back home – a wonderful option if you’re wanting to share some of your big day with others, even if they aren’t part of the day in person. While Dereck put the wedding ring on Nancy’s finger, Dereck’s ring was a tattoo rather than a tangible ring, so Nancy held his ring finger on her heart as she recited her promises and love that that ring symbolized.
Once the papers were signed and everything was official, we wandered the desert areas for some portraits before the sun went below the horizon and Nancy and Dereck went back to chill with some room service and enjoying their hot tub! If you’re looking for a relaxing and luxurious destination for your elopement, splurging on a Gateway Canyons stay is definitely an amazing option.
